1 -pavillon 666 – hello Saatue ! Mais que signifie votre nom ?

- Salutations ! Saatue, ou Saatto, signifie le cortège en finlandais, nous faisons une musique lente, sombre, lourde et Doomy, un nom comme Saattue correspond bien à notre univers calme et chargé d’émotions diverses.

2 – pavillon666 – vous venez de Finlande et chantez dans votre langue maternelle, pourquoi ce choix ?

- Nous avons commencé comme ça, de façon naturelle et il n’y a aucune raison pour que ça change. Généralement les Finlandais sont très sombres et notre langue correspond tout à fait à notre style. Les Finlandais ont une longue histoire avec la musique mélancolique, mais personne n’a vraiment fait les choses comme nous, le choix du finlandais renforce notre identité. Bien sur il est malheureux de constater que peu de gens connaissent notre langue, et il sera difficile pour bon nombre de comprendre le sens des textes, mais je suis sur que la musique seule saura les guider sur la bonne voix !

3 – pavillon666 – les sonorités ne sont pas toujours faciles, apporte t-elle un plus à votre style ?

- Absolument, le son de Saatue se matérialise très naturellement, la musique est dans notre sang et tout se fait sans aucune difficulté.


4 – pavillon666 – votre musique est très sombre mais en meme temps plutot positive quand pensez-vous ?

- Bien ! Quand vous créez quelque chose de personnel, que vous soutenez à 100% vous donnez à cette création toute la passion qui vous anime, je crois que c’est cet aspect là qui vous fait penser que la musique possède quelque chose de positif, mais celle ci reste très sombre. C’est une très bonne thérapie que d’etre capable de faire quelque choses de vos sentiments négatifs …

5 – pavillon 666 – quelles sont vos influences, ont elles un impact sur vos compositions ?

- La musique sombre et lourde en général, je pourrais te donner des formations comme My dying bride, Anathema, Slayer, Pink Floyd ! Nous avons des influences très larges, le son de base de Saattue est très oppressant, mais il est aussi important pour nous qu’il reste dynamique et riche ! Vous trouverez certainement pas mal de contraste à l’écoute de notre dernier album.

6 – pavillon666 – de quoi parle vos chansons ?

- Nos rimes parlent de la mort principalement. Les textes de Saattue sont noirs et poétiques et tendent à mettre en valeur le coté sombre de l’esprit humain. Le premier titre "Ikiuneen" est une chanson en hommage à un membre de ma famille disparu, "Vieraaseen multaan"sur un soldat qui meurt en terre étrangère, "Hyiseen veteen" parle du suicide et "Varjojen saattue" est basé sur l’idée de trahison entre deux personnes qui s’aiment.

7 – pavillon666 – allez vous faire une tournée des clubs pour soutenir le disque ?

- Oui nous ferons une tournée des clubs pour soutenir ce disque, en guise de hors d’œuvre nous nous concentrerons en premier lieu sur la Finlande, mais il se peut que nous visitions d’autres pays avec un peu de chance. Je ne pense pas qu’une tournée européenne soit possible.. mais quelques escapades plus courtes pourquoi pas …


8 - pavillon666 – que pensez-vous de la scène française ? Y a t’il des groupes que vous aimez ?

- Je dois bien avouer que je ne connais pas bien le metal français, j’aime bien les vieux Massacra, et j’aime vraiment bien aussi Treponem Pal.

1 - pavillon 666 - Hello Saattue! But that want to say Saattue?

J. Koskela: Greetings! Saattue, as well as saatto, means procession in Finnish. We are making slow, dark, heavy and doomy music. Therefore as a band name, Saattue is fitting very well to our music and we call our music as saatto metal. The music of Saattue is advancing like a funeral procession - it's slow, serious, calm and loaded with dark emotions.

2 – pavillon666 - you come from Finland and you sung in your native language why this choice

J. Koskela: It felt like a natural way to take in the beginning and there is no reason to change this. Generally Finnish people are very dark minded and also the language is fitting well into our kind of dark music. Finns have a long history in making melancholic music, but none has really done it the way how we do it, so in a way the language choice gives us also some extra identity. It is of course unfortunate that our language is not widely know and many of the people who hear the CD won't get any kind of clue about the lyrical themes, but I'm sure that the music alone has the feeling that will keep you on the right track.

3 – pavillon666 - aren't sonorities easy that you it moreover brings to your sytle?

J. Koskela: Absolutely! The sound and the music of Saattue materialises very naturally. The music is in our blood and therefore everything that happens around Saattue, happens very naturally.

4 – pavillon666 - your music is very dark! but do I find also oddly it very positive when think?

J. Koskela: Good! When you create something out of your personal feelings, something that you can stand behind 100%, you also get easily certain kind of passion aspect to your music. I believe that it's this aspect that might appeal to you as a positive or as a very strong and lively feeling? The music is dark for sure. It is the best kind of therapy to be able to create something out of your negative feelings. It gives you very mesmerized feeling when you manage to do this and the end result means very often something very captivating to its creator. In Saattue's case it also seems that this feeling appeals to many of the listeners.

5 – pavillon 666 - what are they your influences? they have an impact on your compositions?

J. Koskela: Dark and heavy music in general. I could point out such bands as My Dying Bride, Anathema, Slayer and Pink Floyd. You can be sure that we have a wide scale of influences, but also a very big will to create something that is original and ours. The basic Saattue sound is very heavy and oppressive, but it is also important to us that the music is dynamic and rich. You will certainly find a lot of contrasts from our music, when you listen to "Jäähyvästi" album.

6 – pavillon666 - What about speaks to your songs ?

J. Koskela: Our rhymes speak of death mainly. The lyrics of Saattue are dark poetry and full of thoughts from the dark side of human mind. The opening track "Ikiuneen" is a memorial song to a lost family member. "Vieraaseen multaan" is about a soldier who falls on a foreign soil. "Hyiseen veteen" is about a person who ends up doing a suicide and the closing opus "Varjojen saattue" is based on self-punishing thoughts of a person, who has betrayed the trust of someone he - or she - loves.

7 – pavillon666 - to you there will be a round of the clubs to support this disc?

J. Koskela: Yes, we'll go around the clubs to support this disc! For starters we'll be concentrating on doing Finnish shows, but there's always a chance that we will be touring in some other countries as well. I don't think that there's a chance for extensive European tour yet, but some shorter treks are very much possible.

8 - pavillon666 - what think of French metal? to you there is groups which you like ?

J. Koskela: I have to say that my knowledge in French metal isn't that good. I do like some old Massacra a lot, but it's been while that I have listened to them. Now that you reminded me, I need to check them again! I do also like Treponem Pal.
