1)Bonjour Simone! Avant tout, pourriez vous décrire votre musique à ceux qui ne vous connaissent pas encore?

Bonjour tout le monde. Décrire ma musique? Et bien, c'est certainement une partie de moi même, sûrement la plus authentique. Toutes mes compositions traitent de ma propre vie et d’ expériences vécues. La vie étant ma source d'inspiration principale, mes chansons peuvent être des ballades ou du rock mélodique voire plus agressif, tout dépend des sentiments et des émotions que je veux transmettre à travers elles. Toutefois,j’invite les personnes qui ne me connaissent pas et ne connaissent pas mes travaux à en écouter certains sur ma page myspace www.myspace.com/simonefiorletta .

2)Pourquoi vouliez vous commencer un projet solo?

Il n'y avait pas de raison spéciale. J'étais dans une période pendant laquelle j'avais vraiment besoin de m'exprimer, et uniquement à travers ma guitare, sans chanteur et sans aucun mots. Le projet a tout simplement commencé instinctivement, j'ai créé ma propre démo quand j'avais 17 ans, la seconde a été faite quelques années plus tard et j'ai finalement réussi à signer mon premier contrat mondial.

3)Que vous a apporté votre projet solo? Pourriez vous comparer cette expérience avec celle que vous avez eu au sein de votre groupe Moonlight Comedy?

Mon projet solo et mon groupe sont deux différentes sortes d'expériences mais toutes deux me procurent une satisfaction énorme et m'enrichissent de différentes manières. Il est clair que ma carrière solo ne concerne que moi, de la composition des travaux jusqu'au succès que ces derniers peuvent rencontrer. Moonlight Comedy étant un groupe, chaque émotion et chaque expérience est partagée par les cinq membres: nous participons tous dans ce groupe et quel que soit le succès que nous rencontrons, il est du à notre collaboration en tant que groupe. Il n'y a pas de moment pendant lequel n'importe qui d'entre nous peut ressentir ce projet comme s'il était uniquement le sien.

4)Vous avez créé un univers très varié en terme de musique dans chacun de vos albums. Quelles sont exactement vos influences?

Comme je l'ai mentionné précédemment, ma musique prend vie à partir de mes émotions,de mes expériences... Elle prend vie à partir de ma propre vie!!! Tout particulièrement, en parlant de "when reality is nothing", je peux dire que "Thanks" exprime ma gratitude envers mes parents ; "my brother" ,comme vous pouvez aisément le deviner, a été inspirée par mon frère; "dance in the city" a été composée en pensant à chaque fois que l'on sort purement pour le plaisir; "I believe in you" a été écrit pendant que ma petite amie préparait sa thèse, je voulais lui montrer mon soutien ; sa vie m'a inspiré pour une autre chanson nommée "loneliness in your eyes" .J'ai écrit ce morceau pendant qu' elle traversait une mauvaise passe due à son deuil. "Laura"...Eh bien, j'imagine dans ce titre ce que serait ma petite amie si elle était une chanson; "Oh no ,once again?" est la suite de "Brawl in a saloon" (My secret diary), vous connaissez les bagarres typiques des saloon des films comiques, n'est ce pas!? "Eh...what's up?" a été composée en pensant aux moments pendant lesquels vous voyez un de vos amis particulièrement heureux et dites instinctivement "hey! qu'est ce qui t'es arrivé?" . Enfin, j'ai écris la chanson intitulée "like a bird" en référence au vol de l'oiseau ,libérateur de toute chose, comme si en ce moment même vous viviez et dirigiez votre propre rêve.

5)Pourriez vous nous dire quelques mots sur la scène Metal italienne? Vous officiez dans un groupe de métal progressif, ce style est il assez/très représenté là-bas?

Je pense qu'il y a beaucoup de bons groupes de Metal ici en Italie, mais c'est plus dur pour eux de s'affirmer à l'étranger, comparé aux possibilités qu'offrent les groupes dans d'autres pays. Ce n'est pas inhabituel pour moi d'aller dans certaines salles de ma région et d'écouter des groupes formés par de jeunes et talentueux musiciens... Toutefois vous devez être suffisamment déterminés si vous voulez continuer. Quelques groupes Italiens représentatifs sont Labyrinth, Vision Divine, DGM....et Moonlight Comedy!!!

6) Selon vous, quelles sont les différences entre chacun de vos albums solo?

Je pense qu’il n’existe pas de grandes différences concernant leur style, c’est toujours de la même façon dont j’écris. En dépit de cela, il y a de grosses différences dans les arrangements et les soli et une évidence à propos du son : ils se sont améliorés avec le temps. Sur ce point, je prend l’avantage que m’offre votre question pour vous dire que « When reality is nothing » est le premier album que j’ai personnellement enregistré, mixé et masterisé dans mon propre studio « S.F Digital Studio ».

7)Pourriez vous nous expliquer votre choix à propos des musiciens qui ont travailler avec vous sur « When reality is nothing »?

En 2008,j’ai fait quelques concerts dans un groupe d’hommage à Joe Satriani appelé « Surfing with Joe » et grâce à cette expérience j’ai partagé la scène avec deux gars qui, bien qu’étant âgés seulement d’une vingtaine d’années, sont vraiment très compétents : il s’agit du batteur Marco Aiello et du bassiste Mateo Raggi. Il y a tout de suite eu un déclic, musicalement parlant. J’ai ainsi eu de l’inspiration pour composer de nouvelles choses et pour travailler dessus avec ces bons musiciens pour le nouvel album... et nous l’avons fait. Evidemment, j’aimerais mentionner la présence de mon ami Andrea De Paoli (Labyrinth) sur ce travail. J’aimerais également présenter les autres importants invités qui ont joué un rôle actif dans mon album : le célèbre guitar hero Américain Neil Zaza, Mistheria (un claviériste Italien qui a collaboré avec de nombreux musiciens tels Neil Zaza et Bruce Dickinson de Iron Maiden), Armando Pizzuti et Valerio D’Anna de Moonlight Comedy, ainsi que Fabrizio Auri.

8)Cela ne vous dérangerait-il pas de dire quelques mots à propos de chacune des chansons de « when reality is nothing »? Avez vous eu une quelconque volonté de réaliser un album-concept ?

Eh bien j’ai involontairement déjà répondu à une partie de la question. Cependant , l’album peut être d’une certaine manière considéré comme un concept dans lequel il n’y aurait qu’un rôle principal : moi même.

9)Avez vous des dates de concerts prévues dans lesquels vous jouerez la plupart des compositions de votre carrière solo?

Pour le moment, j’ai prévu trois ou quatre dates de concerts pendant lesquels je vais présenter cet album. Les autres dates n’ont pas encore été prévues étant donné que les salles ne se voient pas adresser une grande demande en ce qui concerne la musique instrumentale. Toutefois, si tout se passe bien, je présenterai mon nouvel album dans quelques écoles de musique en Italie.

1)Hello Simone!First of all,can you describe your music to the people who don't know you yet?

Hello everybody. Describe my music? Well, it certainly is a part of me, probably the most genuine one. All of my compositions are about my own life and the experiences I live. Being life my source of inspiration, my songs can be ballads, or melodic rock or more aggressive, depending on the feelings and the emotions I want to give through them. However, I invite the people who don’t know me and my works to listen to some tracks also on my myspace page www.myspace.com/simonefiorletta.


2)Why did you want to start a solo project?

There’s not a specific reason. I was in a period of life in which I truly needed to express myself only through my guitar, without a singer and without any words. The whole project started just instinctively, making my first demo when I was 17, the second a few years later and finally reaching to sign my first world contract.

3)What did your solo project bring you? Can you compare this experience with the one you had with your band Moonlight Comedy?

My solo project and my band are different kinds of experiences, but both of them give me enormous satisfactions and they enrich me in different ways. Obviously my solo career concerns only myself, starting from the composition of the works right through to any success they may have. Being Moonlight Comedy a band, every emotion and every experience are shared among the five of us: We are all participants together in this group, and any success we have is due to our collaboration as a group, there’s not a moment in which one of us can feel this project as if it was solely his own.

4)You have created a very varied universe in term of music in all your albums.What exactly are your influences?

As I previously mentioned, my music takes life from my emotions, from my experiences… it takes life forom my whole life!!! In particular, talking about “When Reality Is Nothing”, I can say that the one titled “Thanks” is to express my gratitude to my parents; “My Brother”, as you can easily guess, was inspired by my brother; “Dance In The City” was composed thinking of all of the times you go out purely for enjoyment; “I Believe In You” was written while my girlfriend was preparing for her thesis and I wanted to show her my support; Her life inspired me for another song, named “Loneliness In Your Eyes”: I wrote this track when she was having a bad time due to a bereavement.“Laura”… Well, in this song I imagine what my girlfriend would be like if she was a song; “Oh No, Once Again?” is the follow up of “Brawl in A Saloon” (My Secret Diary), you know the typical saloon fights you see in the comical movies, don’t you!? “Ehy…What’s Up?” is composed thinking of the times you see one of your friend particularly happy and instinctively say “Hey! What have you been up to?”; Finally, I wrote the song titled “Like a Bird” referring to the birds’ flight, which is liberating from everything and everyone, as if in that moment you’re living and directing you own dream.




5)Can you tell us some words about the Italian Metal scene? You belong to a progressive metal band,is this music style quite/very represented there?

I think that there are many good Metal bands here in Italy, but it is harder for them to stand out, if compared to the possibilities given to the bands in other Countries. It is not unusual to me to go in some locals of my area and listen to bands with very young and skilled musicians… However you also have to be determinate enough if you want to go on.Some representative Italian Metal bands are Labyrinth, Vision Divine, DGM…. And Moonlight Comedy!!!

6)According to you,what differences can you draw between each of your solo albums ?

I think there are no big differences concerning to the style of them, it always is the way I write. In spite of that, there are big differences about the arrangements and the solos, an obviously about the sound: They have improved through time. This point I take the advantage of your question to tell you that “When Reality is Nothing” is the first album I personally recorded, mixed and mastered in my own studio “S.F. Digital Studio”

7)Can you explain us the choice of the musicians who have worked with you on "When reality is nothing"?

In 2008 I’ve been playing for a few gigs in a Joe Satriani tribute band, called “Surfing with Joe”, and thanks to this experience I shared the stage with two guys, who, although in their early twenties, are very skilled: Marco Aiello on the drums and Matteo Raggi as a bass player. And we immediately clicked, musically speaking. So I had the inspiration to compose new material and to work on it with those good musicians for this new album… and we did. Obviously, I’d like to mention the presence of my good friend Andrea De Paoli (Labyrinth) in this work.This point I’d like to introduce also the other important guests playing an active role in my album: the renowned American guitar hero Neil Zaza, Mistheria (an Italian keyboardist who collaborated with many musicians such as the same Neil Zaza and Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden), Armando Pizzuti and Valerio D’Anna from Moonlight Comedy, and Fabrizio Auri.



8)Wouldn't you mind to say some words about each song of "when reality is nothing"?Was there any will to do an album-concept?

Well I involuntary have already answered to part of this question previously. However, it can be in a way considered as a concept in which there’s one only lead: myself.

9)Have you got any concert dates planned, in which you will play some songs of your solo career?

For now I have planned three or four concert dates in which I will introduce this album. Other dates haven’t been planned yet, because locals don’t ask for much instrumental music. However, If everything goes well, I’ll present my new album in a few music schools here in Italy.
