01) Bonjour les Sworn Amongst, pouvez-vous vous présenter et nous parler de votre parcours musical ?

Bonjour ! Nous sommes Sworn Amongst. Liam Liddell, à la guitare et au chant, Jonny Barker à la guitare lead, Rob Ellwood à la basse et Jonny Harper à la batterie. Nous nous sommes formé en 2002 et nous avons signé chez Rising Records en 2007. Nous avons sorti l’album « And So It Begins » en 2008 et tourné au Royaume-Uni et en Europe jusqu’à l’été dernier. Vous pouvez nous trouver en 2010 avec notre second album, « Severance » et nous sommes vraiment prêts à partir sur la route pour plein de concerts tarés !

02) Second album pour Rising Records, "Severance" semble installer durablement votre style, en êtes-vous satisfaits ?

Oui, c’est clair. Nous avons fait un véritable effort pour intensifier l’agression. Nous voulions faire un album difficile à ignorer, pour faire monter les choses à un niveau supérieur. Nous pensons que nous avons assez bien réussi.

03) J'ai retrouvé beaucoup de SEPULTURA et de SLAYER dans votre thrash, est-ce les seuls groupes à vous avoir influencé au départ de l'aventure ?

Non, du tout. Nous avons un panel très large d’influences. Nous écoutons tous beaucoup de groupes de metal différents. On va dire que nos principales influences sur cet album sont des groupes comme Lamb of God, Divine Heresy & Strapping Young Lad, même s’il y a beaucoup de groupes européens également, en particulier la scène suédoise dont nous sommes très fans.

04) Après la sortie de ce nouvel enregistrement, quels sont vos projets dans l'immédiat, mais aussi à plus long terme ?

Tourner ! Nous prévoyons d’emmener la tournée Severance aussi loin que possible, plus loin que tout ce que nous avons fait jusqu’à maintenant. Nous allons jouer au Royaume-Uni et en Europe à partir d’avril, et ensuite aller jusqu’aux Etats-Unis et au Japon cet été, avant de revenir et de faire encore des concerts au Royaume-Uni et en Europe. En gros, faire le plus de concerts possible. Plus on fait de shows, et mieux c’est !

05) Quelle importance accordez-vous aux concerts, aux tournées ?

C’est la raison pour laquelle nous avons formé un groupe au tout début. Jouer en live devant une fosse, c’est la meilleure sensation au monde. Rien ne pourra jamais s’y comparer. Nous écrivons notre musique pour nous permettre de délivrer des performances les plus intenses et chaotiques possibles, et faire suivre la fosse autant que nous le pouvons. Headbanging, pits, slams, nous sommes vraiment là dedans. Plus c’est taré et c’est mieux !

06) Quel regard porte-vous sur la scène métal dans votre pays, mais aussi en général ?

La scène métal est plutôt saine à tous les niveaux. Nous avons joué des concerts devant des fosses de 500 personnes au Royaume-Uni et en Europe, et nous ne sommes pas un grand groupe connu, donc il me semble qu’elle se porte plutôt bien.

07) Dans quel pays pensez-vous avoir le plus de fans et le meilleur accueil en live, racontez-nous ?

Le plus grand concert que nous ayons fait l’an dernier était à Barcelone, en Espagne. C’était énorme. Le meilleur public était en France. Il y avait beaucoup de gens et vous étiez tares les gars ! C’était super de savoir que notre musique touche les gens et les emmènent aussi loin. Et c’est encore plus énorme de les voir à nos concerts.

08) Donc nous pouvons nous attendre à vous voir en France ?

Clairement ! Comme nous l’avons dit, nous serons en tournée en avril, donc nous serons dans le coin dans peu de temps. Gardez les yeux ouverts pour nous, parce que nous arrivons !

01) Hello Sworn Amongst, can you introduce yourself and tell us about your musical parcours?

Hey there! We’re Sworn Amongst. Liam Liddell guitar & vocals, Jonny Barker lead guitar, Rob Ellwood bass guitar and Jonny Harper on drums. We formed in 2002 and signed to Rising Records in 2007. We released our debut album “And So It Begins” in 2008 and toured the UK and Europe until summer last year. You find us in 2010 with our second release “Severance” and damn ready to hit the road for some more crazy shows!

02) "Severance" was the second album with Rising Records. It seems to settle
your style, are you glad of it?

Yes, definitely. We made a real effort to step-up the aggression this time. We wanted to make a record that would be really hard to ignore, to really take things to a higher level than on our first record. We think we’ve done that pretty well.

03) I found a lot of Sepultura and Slayer's influence in your thrash metal. Were they the only bands that influenced you guys?

No, not at all. We have a very wide array of influences. We all listen to a lot of different metal bands, and a lot of different music. We’d have to say our main influences for this record came from bands like Lamb Of God, Divine Heresy & Strapping Young Lad, although there’s plenty of European stuff in there too, particularly the Swedish scene. We’re a big fan of that.

04) After the release of the album, what are your next projects?

Flat out touring. We’re planning to take the Severance tour further and longer than any tour we’ve done before. We’re hitting UK and Europe from April, then travelling out to USA & Japan in the summer, before coming back and doing some more UK and Europe shows. Literally hitting as many places in the next year as possible. The more shows the better!

05) How important are concerts to you?

They’re the reason we started a band in the first place. Playing live to a packed crowd is the best feeling in the world. Nothing ever compares to it. We write our music so that it allows us to deliver the most intense and chaotic performances possible, and get as much mayhem going as we can. Headbanging, pits, crowd surfing, we’re into all of that man. The crazier the better!

06) What do you think about the metal scene in your country? And in general?

The metal scene seems pretty healthy at all levels. We’ve played shows with upwards of 500 people in both the UK and Europe, and we’re not a big band, so it seems to be doing pretty well.



07) Where do you get the best crowd until now? In what country do you have a lot of fans?

The biggest show we had last year was in Barcelona, Spain. That was a blast. The best support we had though was in France. They were the biggest crowds, and you guys are just plain crazy! It’s great to know our music reaches out to people so far away, and even better to see them at the shows.

08) Can we expect to see you guys in France?

Definitely! As we’ve said our touring kicks off in April, so we should be across not too long after that. Keep your eyes open for us, because we’re coming very soon!
