1) Bonjour Abadden ! Pouvez-vous nous présenter votre line-up et l’histoire de votre groupe ?

Dan : Bonjour ! Le combo a été formé en 2007, par quatre gars qui voulaient jouer dans un groupe et écrire de la musique. Nous avons eu quelques changements de line-up dans le passé, mais depuis 2009, nous avons enfin tous les membres qui font d’Abadden ce qu’il est.

2) Comment s’est passé l’enregistrement de « Sentenced to Death » ? Êtres-vous satisfaits de son son ?

James : L’enregistrement s’est bien passé ! Nous sommes très contents de la production finale, et ça a été une grande expérience de travailler avec Mark Daghorn.
John : Nous adorons le fait que les gens aiment nos morceaux et apprécient ce que nous avons fait.

3) Pourquoi avoir choisi le thrash pour s’exprimer ?

Billy : La musique est un langage universel. Nous sommes sûrs qu’il y a dans notre musique quelque chose à laquelle les gens s’identifient.

4) Quelles sont vos principales influences ?
Sepultura, Megadeth, Slayer, Evile, Gama Bomb, Your Demise, Thin Lizzy, Racer X.

5) De quoi vos textes parlent-ils ? Avez-vous un sujet de prédilection ?

Dan : Nos textes tendent à parler de chose comme se venger, s’assumer, la guerre, ou même des choses générales dans la vie qui nous importent. Par exemple, dans nos sociétés, on dirait que tellement de gens peuvent s’en sortir et faire tous ce qu’ils veulent. Comme bastonner quelque sans aucune raison. C’est injuste que les gens aient peur d’être la prochaine victime en sortant dans la rue. Nous n’avons pas formé le groupe pour passer un vrai message. Nous n’avons pas vraiment de sujet principal sur lequel nous nous concentrons. Nous composons quelque chose pour une chanson, puis on le réécoute. Quand on a réécouté la musique, on commence à avoir une idée sur le thème futur de la chanson.

6) Que pensez-vous de la scène métal de votre pays ? Pensez-vous y avoir votre place ?

John : En tant que groupe, nous pensons que les groupes du Royaume-Uni devraient aller à plus de concerts et supporter la scène locale, comme nous le faisons dans notre ville natale, Lunton. Musicalement, nous aimons à penser que le thrash est dans une bonne période et donc que notre musique est bien plus appréciée en ce moment, mais en termes d’attitude. Nous trouvons que beaucoup des groupes du Royaume-Uni avec lesquels nous avons joué aiment penser qu’ils sont plus metal que tous les autres groupes. Nous détestons cette attitude, autant que nous aimons toujours nous amuser.

7) Connaissez-vous des groupes français ?

Pas personnellement, mais nous pensons que Gojira est un très bon groupe.

8) Quels sont vos prochains projets après la sortie de ce CD ?

Des tournées ! Un nouveau merchanding ! Plein de grandes choses. Et des nouveaux fans.

1) Hello Abadden, can you tell us about the line-up and the band’s history ?

Dan : Hello ! The band started back in 2007. It started with four guys that wanted to play in a band and write some music. We have had a few line-up changes in the past, but since 2009, we have finally got all the members that have really made Abadden what it is now.

2) How did the recording of “Sentenced to Death” go ? Are you satisfied with how it sounds ?

James : The recording went great ! We are very happy with the final product and it was a great experience working with Mark Daghorn himself.
John : We love the fact that people are enjoying our songs and appreciate what we have been doing.

3) Why did you chose Thrash metal to express yourselves ?

Billy : Music is an universal language. We are sure there is something in our music that people can relate to.

4) What are your main influences ?

Sepultura, Megadeth, Slayer, Evile, Gama Bomb, Your Demise, Thin Lizzy, Racer X.

5) What do the lyrics talk about ? Do you have a main subject ?

Dan : Our lyrics tend to talk about things like, getting revenge, standing up for yourself, war and just general things in life that we feel strongly about. For example in society, it feels like so many people can get away with doing whatever they want. Like beating people up for no reason. It’s not fair that people have to walk around scared about whether they’re going to be the next victim. We didn’t start a band to try and send a message out there, we’re just expressing our opinions on how we feel about things like that. We don’t really have a main subject that we focus on. First we write the music for the song and then listen back to it. When we listen to the music we start to get an idea for what the song is going to be about.

6) What do you think about the metal scene in your country ? Do you think you fit in ?

John : We as a band think that bands around the UK should go to more shows and support local bands like we do in our home town Luton. Musically, we’d like to think thrash is on the uprise and so our music is much more accepted at this time but in terms of attitude. We find a lot of UK metal bands we play with like to think they are more metal than every other band and we hate this attitude as we still love messing about and acting our age but still acting on a professional level.

7) Do you know some French bands ?

Not personally, but we think Gojira are a great band.

8) What are your next projects after the release of this CD ?

Tours ! New Merch ! Big things ! New fans.
