<p>L’incompréhension est le sentiment le plus troublant qui soit. Vous êtes vous déjà trouvé dans la posture où vous assistez à un concert (ou un spectacle quelconque) qui ne parvient pas à vous convaincre alors que tout le monde autour de vous semble aux anges ? Il s’agit grosso modo de l’expérience que j’ai pu vivre à l’Alhambra le 21 Octobre dernier.</p>
<p>MERENDINE ouvre le show. Le métal joué est relativement classique, les riffs efficaces sont de sortie mais il est hélas indéniable que sa musique, en plus d’être assez moyennement mixée, est linéaire. Le groupe communique aisément sa joie et c’est cela qui fait, qu’à l’arrivée, les lascars nous laissent un goût plutôt agréable dans la bouche. En revanche, c’est une autre paire de manche en ce qui concerne DORO, qui elle ne s’en va pas seulement au bout de huit titres.</p> <p>Pas que nous aurions voulu que la Metal Queen fiche vite le camp de la scène, mais quelle frustration que ce concert ! Certes, la chanteuse est belle, harangue la foule sans cesse, est communicative etc. mais il n’y a aucune folie dans ce spectacle. Niveau décors le travail est indéniable, la scène étant ornée d’un drapeau épique à l’image de Madame Pesch stylisée de façon heroïc-fantasy. Les éclairages, eux, sont variés et apportent une couleur différente à chaque chanson, mais quelque part il est vain de colorer des musiques qui sont toutes plus ou moins similaires et qui n’ont pas réellement de « couleurs » différentes les unes des autres. DORO a beau soigner un minimum la mise en scène, c’est un spectacle sans surprise. Certes, la magnifique femme parvient à créer un sentiment quasi religieux sur « Für Himmer » mais cela est la seule réussite de la soirée, le reste contribuant plutôt à une impression de déjà entendu. Evidement, nous serions bien malhonnêtes si nous n’admettions pas que la reprise de « Breaking the law » de JUDAS PRIEST nous a fait plaisir, mais à nouveau, force est de constater que niveau prise de risque DORO frôle le néant. S’il y a bien, en effet, un hymne capable de galvaniser tout spectateur de Métal c’est « Breaking the law ». Songez que même un groupe extrême comme ALL SHALL PERISH s’est amusé à reprendre ce titre… c’est dire l’aura de cette chanson. En revanche, on savoure l’hommage à DIO à travers « Egypt », morceau tout de même moins connu que celui de JUDAS PRIEST, ceci dit, DORO ne se met toujours pas en danger. En dépit de notre médisance, nous devons admettre que la formule DORO fonctionne plutôt. Tout est là pour plaire : gros riffs, gros refrains, batterie tout en puissance, modulations géniales de sa voix, soli de guitares sympathiques etc. Seulement, une heure et demie de cette recette appliquée à la lettre sans aucun écart est synonyme d’ennui, sauf pour les fans venus massivement, un d’entre eux ayant même offert un bouquet de fleurs à la chanteuse d’Outre Rhin en début de set. L’allemande nous aura donc chanté ce soir « Earthshaker Rock », « I rules the ruins », « Hellbound », « True as steel », « Raise your fist », « You’re my familly », « All we are » et bien d’autres. Le concert avançant je me fais la remarque qu’on en vient à apprécier davantage les musiciens que DORO en personne, notamment Nick Douglas dont la présence se résume en un mot : « élégance ». C’est un peu la même classe qui habite Luca Princiotta, qui, malgré son air désinvolte alterne guitare et claviers avec brio. Johnny Dee, quant à lui n’hésite pas, à se lâcher lors du solo de batterie, n’oublions pas que chez DORO nous sommes dans un Métal des années 80, il s’agit donc de se plier aux traditions.
